“Great food!!”

If youre looking to take a break from all of the tacos and quessedillas and enjoy tasty and original dishes you should go to Unico.
It is more expensive than the local stuff but well worth it!
The dip that comes with the bread is the best Hummus weve eaten outside the middle east! The main dishes (Cheeseburger and Lobster ravioli) were incredible, as we’d expect from fancy restaurants back home.
The service was great. Highly recommended!

“A must eat”

We’ve gone there with a friend. The dinner was excellent, looked good and tasted superb. The owners are very welcoming, smiling and are making sure that you are having a great dinner. 
Everything was wonderful from the appetizer to the dessert.
If you are going to Tulum, we can only advise you to try this restaurant (which by the way is nicely decorated).

“We just had the pleasure”

of spending an evening at Unico. This is a fabulous little restaurant, but the location is such that it takes paying some attention to find it. We had the goat cheese appetizer, the shrimp appetizer, the hummus (from the house), the sea bass and the lasagna. It was all amazingly well prepared and beautifully served. Espresso and a liquer (from the house- anise and honey, really unusual and delicious) rounded out the meal. Everything is made from scratch and with love that shows. The young owners/chef are delightful people. Please try this place and decide for yourselves; you will not be disappointed. What an exciting new find in town. It’s located on the Coba road just next to the OXOXO across the street from the San Francisco. GO. NOW. Enjoy!

“a fresh face in tulum”

I just had a wonderful dinner at Unico on the Coba Road in Tulum. As a part time resident and passionate home cook in search of honest, good food in Tulum tired of pizza, tacos, and the pretentious fare at the beach, I was eager to try the new place in town.
We had local sea bass, hummus with homemade focaccia, superb goat cheese balls, and lovely shrimp. The tiny potato pancakes were light as a feather. The food was locally sourced and very fresh. and the service impeccable. I loved that the chef is a New York transplant, from Westchester, New York, close to where my husband and I live.
The chef’s generosity and honest approach to food is apparent. So to all my Tuluml friends and those who plan to visit this year, stop in at Unico for breakfast or dinner.

If you are in tulum and love food don’t miss the opportunity to eat there. Meals are really “unique” and can taste the cook’s love and enthusiasm in every bite. 
I’m not going back to many restaurants, but there i have been three times now and nr. 4 is coming soon. 
Good thing is that at the moment its still an insider tip, you got best attention and very quick (but awesome) meals. I’m sure that will change soon.

“The best food in the Caribbean!”

This restaurant is relatively new in Tulum and the owners are doing everything right!

The food is freshly prepared using only good quality, local ingredients by New York owner- chef, Brian. The meals were exceptional- I ordered the red snapper which was cooked perfectly and my partner ordered the chicken breast both of which I highly reccommend. 

Just when we thought we couldn’t eat anymore, we couldn’t say no to the offer of freshly baked pumpkin pie ( Brian’s mother’s own recipe) for desert which was one of the best things I’ve eaten.

The service was very attentive and very friendly with Brian and his wife both popping over to the table to talk to us.

We have decided what we are going to order the next time we go!

You must try this place when in Tulum!

Just finished an amazing meal here. Great atmosphere, faultless service from extremely friendly staff. Food cannot be described as anything other than amazing. You can see the chef preparing everything from scratch from the dining area, would definatly reccomend to anybody visiting Tulum

“Tulum just got Lucky”

My old friend Millie at Azafran always has a new place for me to try. This year it was Unico…. WOW…..Went in not knowing what to expect. A New Yorker way down here! First thing I noticed was Brian’s knife skills. It was obvious he has had some serious time in a serious kitchen. I won’t drop the name, but trust me, he has worked for a man we all know well.

First meal we had was for 2 people. 5 starters, one main, and dessert shared. …Humus, whiskey chicken, grilled octopus, asian spicy chicken steamed buns,and fried goat cheese w/ honey. Then lobster ravioli w/ bacon, finishing with a pecan pie w/ home made vanilla ice cream …The attention to detail was first class. I tend to be very critical and I could not find the smallest thing to complain about. And the price was absurdly low. I doubt it will stay that way for long.

Went back and had “burger night”…easily the best burger in the area. Fries were hand cut. And the sangria was the perfect mate for the food.

Next meal was for 3 people….Goat cheese because it was impossible to not order it again. As well as the lobster ravioli. Then a light as a feather vegetable lasagna. No pasta, just ribbons of zucchini wrapped around a very flavorful ricotta filling. Then a pan sautéed local Sea Bass in a shellfish sauce. The best part of this dish was the skin. It took real skill to know when it was just the right doneness without being overcooked. Finishing with a chocolate lava cake and a bread pudding made with homemade Challah.

The Challah was so good I had to go back for French Toast, which was, once again perfectly delivered. Crisp on the outside and a soft and creamy interior.

These are some of the most genuinely nice people I have met in Tulum. The Pueblo is so much more warm and inviting compared to dining on the beach road. I highly recommend you try this place multiple times on your visit. One time is not enough….As I said above, Tulum just got lucky!

Wow ! Quand on est arriver on etais pas sur mais apres avoir recus notre premier plat wow jetais surpris du service #1 la bouffe #1 qualite #1 fraicheur#1 un des meilleur resto que jai manger au mexique de playa del carmen a tullum.
N’aller pas a playa del carmen pour manger allez plutot visiter cette endroit .
Ce resto a rien a envier au grand resto de montreal .
